About Us
Background
Founded in Kampala, Uganda in 2024, BlackBox seeks to support the proliferation of the arts in East Africa and beyond. To achieve this, we provide a space for emerging and established practitioners of the arts, to expand their vocabulary and improve their artistry.
Our three-tiered programme meets the needs of different categories of artists at specific points in their career. Beyond offering a space for creation and experimentation, BlackBox is committed to a holistic experience for our Fellows. We therefore provide complementary activities including training and mentorship.
BlackBox Africa positions itself as an architect of paths for emerging artists in Uganda, and beyond to improve their practice and interact with the global art community.
