Henry Kiyingi
2024 BlackBox Fellow
BIO
Henry Kiyingi [b.1996] is a visual artist based in Kampala, Uganda. His work border on identity within his locality and in a global context.
His works also explores themes of leadership and strategy, employing his signature jerican as a conduit.
In many homes, especially African homes and select professions, the sighting of a jerican indicates planning – for now and the unforeseen. Within this context, Kiyingi drives home the importance of being strategic, staying one step ahead and the consequence of inaction.
